The York Concert Band was formed in 1991 and now averages about 40 players. It consists of a range of woodwind and brass instruments including flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, bass, percussion and timpani.
We play a wide variety of music to suit every occasion including:
  • Military
  • Glenn Miller
  • Music from the Shows
  • Classical
  • Theme tunes

Sue Sykes became principal conductor in 2004 when she took over from Bill Gilpin, who conducted the Band beyond its first decade and composed several pieces for its repertoire.
